Hello World!
I started my career in digital some 25 years back. Back in those days, HTML was written in the good old notepad, and if you made a mistake, well, you had no other option but to check (not in Google) your niggling bug in a book called the ‘HTML Bible.’ A wieldy book that could put even chronic insomniacs into a deep slumber. Then, of course, came Google and a slew of editors, and my love affair with the wise old Notepad ended abruptly. But my love for HTML and webpage design took off from that point on.
Over 20 years, I must have designed several websites and been a project manager for several web-based applications. Now that I got that brag out of the way, not all of them are in service today! I couldn’t leave my mark!
But then something magical happened!
In 2005, YouTube happened. And, when Jawed Karim uploaded the first YouTube video, “Me at the Zoo,” I guess, of the many things, education for me (and everyone else) changed forever. All one needed was the intent, Internet, laptop, or back in those days, a desktop to put your plan in action.
I was always fascinated by this new medium and its endless possibilities that it offered to someone like me to “boldly go where no man has gone before.” So, yes, I explored the domains of science, technology, analytics, travel, and web design. I understood concepts of Python, Machine Learning, Blockchain, and whatnot from some of the best guys out there on YouTube.
I can’t name all, but you get the picture. In this learning journey, I made notes (of hacks, tips, tricks, ninja stuff!) from the best that helped me shape my understanding.
Your takeaway
As I see it, it’s all in there. The “seek, and you shall find” theory holds firm on the internet. What I’ll do or instead attempt to do is make your search a little easier.
From digital to analytics to machine learning, I’ll curate content here right on this blog. And that’s after I have gone through it and reviewed it first hand. I’ll be putting together videos and learning paths (for a particular topic, say HTML+CSS) from different YouTube videos or creators to make your search a little easier. From my experience, no one guy is a master of it all. Someone else may explain a concept better. And that’s where this blog comes in. Think of it as a road sign – you decide where you want to go or stop.
I would like to hear from you. And, if you would like to contribute or talk about a topic, hit me up on robin@digitalonmyplate.com, and we can get things going!
Keep moving. And, thank you for your time!
–Robin
